Atlanta Staycation

I did something completely out of my realm of possibility. I’m talking never in a million years would I make this decision. I took time off of work…and had a staycation. (GASP from those of you that know me.) Here’s the strange part. I enjoyed it. Kat and I normally Priceline a hotel on the beach for her Spring Break but we had a few unexpected things pop up on our calendars. We drew a “Chance Card” and realized we had a patio full of dead plants, a big unwelcome expense the night before we wanted to leave, one offer too good to pass up, and one too many outstanding Etsy orders. Normally this would cue the funeral march…not this time! We promised ourselves we wouldn’t look back on Sunday night and our only accomplishment being a House of Cards binge marathon. (Although, that sounds delightful now that I’m back at work.) Kat and I explored our city and went to all the places us OTP folks (outside-the-perimeter for you non-Atlantans) don’t have easy access to. Check out our Atlanta Staycation!

Day 1 | Kat and I worked most of the day getting caught up on orders and listing some new products we’ve been working on. We wanted to be able to completely take a break for a few days! Check out one of our new products here. We ended the day with pizza at Antico for our monthly Bupper Club. #pizzacoma

Day 2 | We set out on an adventure to enjoy all the food and shopping not available on our side of town. HomeGoods, The Container Store, Trader Joe’s, IKEA, Nordstrom Rack, and more were on the agenda.

I feel like I’m here all the time but we OF COURSE had to make our rounds at Westside Provisions. I die for anything Jonathan Adler. I’ve never actually eaten at Taqueria del Sol until now and I’m feeling a lot of regret about ignoring it. Incredible tacos and great guacamole – definitely a new fave.

As if I could go to Westside Provisions and not stop at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. Please. I also recently discovered Jeni’s is available at Fresh Market. Game changer!

Day 3 | We went to downtown Senoia with Joanna for breakfast and a little antique shopping. Look for a post from Joanna soon on this quaint little day! Friday night was all over the board. We began with a game of bunko at Joanna’s church. (Don’t knock it till you try it!) Then we switched gears, Pricelined a hotel in Buckhead, and put our dancing shoes on! Buckhead Saloon was pretty good to us Friday night.

Day 4 | Refer to last sentence for why we needed brunch immediately on Saturday morning. Y’all, stop what you are doing and make a reservation at Rosebud NOW. I’ll do a foodie post on Rosebud soon but for now, I’ll leave you with this – Fried Cheese Grits, The Ultimate (stuffed!) Pancakes, and something they call The Nasty McAllister.

We got news late Friday night that Kristin had her baby! After Rosebud we made our way to Northside Hospital to meet Silas Graham Mickey. I’m in love!

Day 6 | It was patio makeover time! Mom has the greenest thumb you’ll ever find so we forced our expert to go flower and plant shopping with us. Look for my patio post next week in honor of Earth Day! For now, I’ll leave you with a couple teasers to hold you over.

The next time you get the travel bug, consider exploring your city. I can guarantee you there are tons of restaurants and shopping you’ve never experienced right in your own backyard! Where else should I go on my next staycation?
